do any of you wish you that you could see the future? wouldn’t it be so cool if we could know all the steps laid out before us in this life? how much different would your life look if you knew that you would live to be 100 years old and nothing you did could change that fact? would you be more bold? more courageous? have more joy?
the main point i am trying to get at is that i know we would live our lives differently if we knew what our future looked like.
well, my friend, i have good news for you – i don’t know what your future will look like, all that you will do and accomplish in your life, or when your last day will be, but i can tell you who does know all of that. his name is Jesus. He is your Heavenly Father and He craves for a personal relationship with you.
as we walk in this relationship with Jesus we gain confidence in knowing that every moment we encounter takes us one step closer to an eternity with Him. and in Him we do know what our future will look like. not every brush stroke will be known but the full picture will be seen. so, as Christians... why doesn’t that change the way we live? why do we still live fearful when we know that if we love God and seek after Him, we will be heirs in the Kingdom of Heaven?
'... and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory' (1 Thessalonians 2:12)
in the movie black Adam *no spoilers*, uncle karim is about to die and dr. fate is there with uncle karim and he says to him ‘you will not die today my friend, but stay away from electricity’. in the next scene uncle karim transforms into this fearless and courageous character as he is fighting this army of the dead. as he fights he says to his sister, who looks terrified, ‘don’t worry i die from electricity’. his confidence in what dr. fate had told him allowed to live with abandon amid this obstacle in the movie. i wonder what would look different in our lives if we started living with this same mindset as uncle karim. an attitude that isn’t worried about what situations we throw ourselves into because we know that if we are serving the Kingdom of God, He has promised an eternal inheritance for those who seek Him.
after all, shouldn't we be the example of how people live courageously? because we know that there is an eternal life after this one, a life that can be described as 'paradise' (Luke 23:43), a life that our Father promises us if we believe in His Name.
'whoever believes in the Son has eternal life' (John 3:36)
so, once again, as christian's why are we fearful? is it because, just maybe, we don't actually trust God? this sounds so silly to say, that we don’t trust God. if uncle karim didn’t hesitate to believe dr. fate then why are we hesitating to take God at His word. a God who desires you so badly that He sent His only Son to die on the cross so He can have a relationship with you.
'for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life’ (John 3:16)
why are we are striving for our own kingdom instead of His? is it because we really haven't died to ourselves? because Paul says in Philippians 'to die is gain' so, if we are fully committed to Jesus and to die is gain then why do we not live every day with zeal for the Lord.
zeal ‘great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective’
as christian’s our objective is to spread the Gospel until every person knows the name Jesus.
now i struggled with this goal for a long time, and i think it’s because it looks different for a lot of people. i always wanted to live for Jesus, but i felt like i never knew how. and it wasn’t until i came across this quote by charles spurgeon ‘no man ever served God by doing things tomorrow’ i understand what it looks like for me.
this is it.
i am sharing what God puts on my heart.
now go. boldly, courageously, fearlessly, and joyfully proclaiming and acting on what God is putting on your heart, because you know what your future looks like when you’re living your life chasing Jesus.-n0tbychance

“Why are we fearful, is it because we actually don’t trust God?” This question has such a hard realization in it. Often times we say, “oh ya I trust God” but our actions prove otherwise. I actually had this revelation a few months ago when I was stressing about my future career. I was like wow do I really not trust God?
And it was because trust has been broken by so many people on earth that subconsciously I was holding that same standard with God. Thank goodness for his patience with us and the process He takes us on when we surrender into his presence and bring these things to him.
Thank you for sharing!
This is so good!! As a college student, the future is scary but resting in Jesus' promises has given me Hope that tomorrow is in His hands.
